A Celebration of God’s Greatest Creation
I see the human figure not only as something that is physical, but also reveals something that is very spiritual and completely beautiful. The human figure is God’s creation, by viewing it this way I am able to keep it honorable, contrary to secular influence. As I contemplate the figure and the pose, the material and the model, I do it with eyes wide open, focused to bring out the beauty that is hidden within. As an artist and sculptor, I use lines, shapes and material to reveal the poetry of the human form. As a Christian artist, using nudes models, the task is to capture the figure as a beautiful symbol, representing what it means to be alive and honoring the temples that God has given us for him to dwell in. If the figure is reduced to being simply “naked” as it is in secular representation, then it becomes an empty vessel. God gave me a gift, it is my duty and my obligation as a artist and sculptor as well as a Christian to show my gratitude by glorifying His greatest creation, the human figure and utilizing those talents that God has bestowed on me.
From a Christian perspective, I felt that showing appreciation for God’s Creation shows up not only in my body of work, by also in the soul and spirit of the individual. I love all aspects of life and the people who I encounter in this life. This is why I chose to study figurative sculpture. By creating the pieces representing the beauty of the human figure, I am showing my love and appreciation for human life and spirit each which has been created individually and is God given.
The various techniques that I have chosen to render the human form reflects the many layers of the body itself. Although the finished figure that I complete may seem concrete and whole, the process I use to get the piece to this point comes from utilizing the various media and materials that I have at my disposal to use. Whether using plaster, resin, plastic, wood metal or other materials, the process follows similar steps, but in the end is as individual as we are in ourselves.
This carries true in all my work, be it complete forms or partial pieces, I try to reflect the layers that you would find in the human body, which in its simplest form was created from dust, as God did, before he breathed life into it.
The human figure will always be a subject than I study with passion, creating pieces that will honor not only the model and the form, but Gods wonderful creation.
Some of the images and pieces shown on these pages may or may not be completely nude, so proceed at your own discretion.
